Taking Care Of My Pet

About Me

Taking Care Of My Pet

After I found out that I would be traveling a lot for my new job, I knew that I was going to have to make arrangements to care for my dog. I was nervous about leaving him behind, but I knew that the road would be far less comfortable than a cozy boarding facility. To find a great location, I talked with some of my pet owner friends and visited each location in person. I was able to find a facility that put pet care above all else, and I felt comfortable leaving my dog. This blog is dedicated to helping pet owners take care of their pets--even if they happen to travel for work.

2 Things To Look For When Finding A Dog Boarding Facility

If you are getting ready to go on vacation, you may not be going someplace where you can take your pet. If this is what's going on, you want to make sure that your dog is going to be OK and well taken care of. There are different things you can do. One is that you can have someone come to your house to take care of your pet, but you can also board your pet. If that's what you've decided to do, then there are some things that you are going to want to look for to make sure that you get the right boarding facility.

Big Dogs and Little Dogs Are Separated

One thing that you want to do is to see if the dogs are separated out by size when they go outside to get some play time or potty time. There are several reasons for this, but one is that little dogs can accidentally get hurt when big dogs are around just because of the size difference. Imagine a 5 pound chihuahua out playing at the same time as a 200 lb mastiff. The mastiff could accidentally step on the chihuahua without even noticing it. Separating the dogs by size doesn't mean that they have to have separate outdoor places to go, even just having different times for when the dogs go outside. You may even be able to find a boarding facility that only takes particular sized dog, so you won't have to worry about that kind of injury from happening.

Online Viewing

This one doesn't have to be a necessary, but many boarding facilities offer you the chance to go to a website to check in on your dog during the day. They will give you a password to a private area so that you can look at your pet and see how they are doing. They may have cameras into the area where your pet is staying as well as any common area. They would have to be careful to make sure that you can only see your pet, so they may limit places where the cameras are, such as if your pet has to share a living area with other dogs. But being able to take a peek at your baby can reassure you that they are doing well, especially if you are going to be gone for a while.

If you have vacation plans, you may not be able to take your pet with you. Finding a good boarding facility is important so that your pet is being taken care of well. For more information, contact companies like Preppy Pet West Houston.
